Intrauterine Insemination – IUI
Insemination is a process specially used to treat infertility during conceiving pregnancy. The filtering of sperm is done in lab and then that sperm is placed directly in to the uterus. Thus is done asx time when ovary release one or more eggs to be fertilized.
Why IUI ? When there is less sperm count or low sperm mobility, IUI is a preferred option. It can also be done when a hostile cervical condition such as in unexplained infertility or cervical mucus problems. This option is not preferred in the case of scarred or closed fallopian tubes. As such there is 10 to 20 percent of chance of getting pregnant with every IUI cycle.
Ovulation Induction
The fertility treatment that uses oral or injectable medications to stimulate ovulation is known as Ovulation induction. This treatment is started at the beginning of the cycle and the response of the ovaries is monitored by using ultrasound monitoring.
In this process, to ensure that you ovulate a mature egg, ovaries are stimulated. The type of drug that is used in IVF, can also be used here. Through the blood test, the timing of ovulation is predicted, and then the couples can have normal intercourse or opt for normal treatments like IUI or DI if using donor sperm.
This method or process is used when the patient suffer from irregular periods, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome or absent periods.
Surrogacy
When a surrogate mother carries a pregnancy in her uterus for the intended parents, it’s called surrogacy. Mostly there are two types of surrogacy: professional surrogacy and altruistic surrogacy. In professional surrogacy, the surrogate mother does the surrogacy for monitory gain. The surrogate and genetic parents are not related to each other.
In altruistic surrogacy, the surrogate mother does not expect ant monitory compensation. This type of surrogacy is generally done in family members or close friends.
Surgical Sperm Retrieval
Surgical Sperm Retrieval is especially for men who are not producing any sperm in their ejaculate. It is performed with different techniques under anesthesia, in the operation theatre, and then used in treatment via ICSI.
Surgical Sperm Retrieval is used to help men who have no sperm in their sample or those who suffer from Azoospermia which may be caused by vasectomy, blockages in the tubes, failed vasectomy reversal, or low or no sperm production in the testicle.
