Blastocyst Transfer Center's in Pune
A blastocyst is an embryo that has matured to the stage where it is forming a fluid-filled core. This normally happens five to six days after ovulation and is an essential phase of embryo development. The insertion of blastocysts into the uterus is known as blastocyst transfer. The eggs are fertilized in the laboratory after the doctor removes them from the ovary (follicular aspiration). This is accomplished by either conventional in vitro fertilization (IVF) or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).
An egg begins to differentiate and grow into an embryo immediately after fertilization. The developmental stages are as follows:
- On the first day, the pronuclear stage (fertilized egg).
- The second day’s two to the four-cell stage.
- On the third day, the eight-cell level is reached.
- On the fourth day, the morula stage.
- And on the fifth day, it is the blastocyst level.
Two or three days after egg removal, the doctor will normally implant one or more embryos into the woman’s uterus. Embryo transfer is the name given to this procedure.
Embryos will also grow in an incubator up to the fifth day, i.e. the blastocyst level, due to enhanced cell culture media (blastocyst culture). The transfer of such formed embryos into the woman’s uterus is referred to as blastocyst transfer.
Infertility Clinic in Pune Our superb IVF laboratory team has been able to provide the necessary nutrients to grow embryos in the lab to this advanced stage of development. The further mature the embryos are, the greater your ability to pick the most viable embryos and transfer fewer embryos. This would help us to keep or increase fertility rates while reducing the number of embryos transferred, reducing the most serious complication – multiple pregnancies.
What are the benefits of transferring blastocysts?
It is possible to identify embryos with growth potential. Just 20 to 30 percent of fertilized eggs turn into blastocysts. If an embryo passes this stage, it has a better chance of implantation. Best Fertility Hospital in Pune. The blastocyst transition time is optimal. A normal pregnancy, like a blastocyst transfer, takes about five days after fertilization for the embryo to enter the uterine cavity, where it then implants. On this day, it is assumed that the uterine lining is particularly receptive.
Why is it performed?
Embryos that have reached the blastocyst stage are more likely to result in a pregnancy than embryos that have not reached this stage (day two, three, or four embryos).
This is believed to be related to the natural selection of the embryos, which means that the embryos that have grown to the blastocyst developmental stage in culture are the healthiest of the population and capable of survival and developing to this stage.
Why are Blastocysts Unique?
A blastocyst embryo has entered a stage of development that necessitates the triggering of the embryo’s genes, a process known as genomic activation. Genes are genetic codes that define our individuality. When sperm and egg fertilize, the resultant baby is a mash-up of the mother’s and father’s chromosomes. This combination produces an infant who is distinct from his or her mother, parent, or siblings. The mother’s egg provides all of the energy and chemicals needed for cell division during the embryo’s early development. To continue developing after the third or fourth day of development, the embryo must stimulate its genes to provide energy for further cell division and differentiation. It appears to be simple! While this biological process is important, it does not happen as quickly as we would hope. Approximately one-third of embryos successfully activate their genes and grow to the blastocyst level. When an embryo enters the blastocyst stage, biology tells us that it is a healthier embryo with a higher chance of implanting successfully and producing a normal, stable baby.
Who is eligible for blastocyst embryo transfer?
Ideally, all women will receive a transplant containing embryos that have matured to this level. This method of transfer, however, is not appropriate for all women.
The day of embryo transfer is determined by the number and condition of embryos available on the third day after the woman’s eggs are harvested.
If a woman has four or more high-quality embryos on the third day after egg harvest, she would almost certainly have blastocysts two days later. If the woman is above the age of 35 or has a low number of high-quality embryos on the third day after delivery, she is less likely to have blastocysts two days later. For these women, a day-three embryo transfer is usually preferable.
What are the blastocyst transition success rates?
During blastocyst transfer, the odds of becoming pregnant are very high. When compared to embryo transfer at an early developmental stage (day 2 or 3), the chances rise by around 7%. Women under the age of 30 have a chance of success of 45 to 50 percent, while women aged 30-39 have a chance of success of 35 to 40 percent. However, blastocyst culture does not provide the same benefits to all women. Those who have a low egg count and quality can benefit from a day-3 transfer, in which the embryos are implanted in the mother’s uterus at an earlier point. As a result, it goes without mentioning that our reproductive care experts will collaborate with you to decide the right transition option for you as part of a personalized, individual medical approach, aiming for the best possible success rate for you.
