About IVF

IVF is one of the most effective infertility treatments, regardless of the cause. It is not always as easy as you would imagine conceiving a child. When a woman is having trouble getting pregnant, in vitro fertilization (IVF) will indeed provide a solution. We have an excellent team of physicians, clinicians, healthcare staff, and embryologists. We approach complex cases and provide individualized care. We are always learning new ideas and attempting to use them for the benefit of our patients. The Orion IVF clinic provides information, assistance, and counseling to infertile couples as well as individual women and men pursuing fertility care.

IVF is the most effective fertility therapy available today. IVF is a technique that entails collecting a woman’s eggs and a man’s sperm sample and mixing them in a laboratory dish. The resulting embryos will grow in special incubators for three to five days before being inserted into the woman’s uterus using a clear (and gentle) procedure. The woman’s uterus is then filled with a fertilized embryo (or multiple embryos). After about 10 days, the person will take a blood pregnancy test to see if the procedure was successful and if she is still pregnant. (You will need to go through several periods to improve your odds of becoming pregnant.)

IVF Procedure

Super Ovulation –

Fertility medications are administered to the woman to increase egg development. A woman usually generates one egg every month. Fertility medications instruct the ovaries to contain a large number of eggs. During this stage, the woman will have regular transvaginal ultrasounds to assess her ovaries — as well as blood testing to monitor her hormone levels.

Egg Retrieval –

To extract the eggs from the woman’s body — a surgery called follicular aspiration is performed. Most of the time, the surgery is done in the doctor’s office. The woman will be given painkillers to help her relax through the surgery. The health care worker sticks a small needle into the uterus into the ovary and sacs (follicles) holding the eggs, using ultrasound images as a reference. The needle is then attached to a suction tube — which extracts the eggs and fluid from each follicle one at a time. The process is performed with the remaining ovary. During the injection, there might be some cramping, but it should go away within a day. Pelvic laparoscopy may be needed in rare cases to extract the eggs. Donated eggs can be used if a woman does not or cannot bear any eggs.

Insemination and Fertilization –

The man’s sperm is combined with the highest quality eggs. Insemination is the process of combining sperm and egg. After that, the eggs and sperm are deposited in an environmentally controlled chamber. A few hours after insemination, the sperm typically enters (fertilizes) an embryo. If the doctor believes the chances of fertilization are slim, the sperm may be pumped directly into the egg. This is referred to as intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).

Embryo Culture –

When a fertilized egg splits, it develops into an embryo. The embryo will be checked daily by laboratory personnel to ensure that it is developing properly. A typical embryo has multiple cells that are actively dividing after around 5 days.

Embryo transfer –

Three to five days after egg collection and fertilization, embryos are implanted in the woman’s womb. The operation is performed when the woman is conscious in the doctor’s room. A thin tube (catheter) holding the embryos is inserted through the woman’s uterus, through the cervix, and into the womb by the doctor. Pregnancy occurs as an embryo adheres to and develops in the lining of the womb. Many embryos may be implanted in the womb at the same time, resulting in twins, triplets, or more. The precise number of embryos transferred is a complicated problem that is affected by a variety of factors, most notably the woman’s age. Unused embryos may be frozen — then implanted or donated.

Post Transfer –

Following the embryo transplant, the patient is given medications and injections. She is advised on her diet, medications, and activities. With a blood test — we get the results in 12 to 14 days. We advise on the next steps based on the results of the blood tests.

 The Success Rate of IVF

The probability of success with IVF treatments is determined by several factors, including the lady’s age, the cause for infertility, the condition of the eggs recovered, and the nature of the sperm. Furthermore, the success rates are often answered by the lady’s age, and if a lady grows older, the IVF success rates decrease if she is utilizing her eggs.
